Tips for booking a live band with DJ

Do you want a DJ and a coverband or tape act for your wedding or company party? Below are a few tips that may come in handy.

• Avoid hiring light and sound twice. Discuss with the band and the DJ who will bring what to the event so that you don't have double costs.

• A DJ's sound set is sometimes not suitable for live music. Should the live band use the DJ's sound set? Then make sure that the band has the technical specifications of the sound set so that they can determine whether this set meets the requirements.

• A band can't play non-stop all night. Most bands play 3 sets of 45 minutes each night. First, think about when you want the bank to start and end, and then plan and set times.

• Make a time schedule in advance when the band and DJ will perform, but don't be afraid to deviate slightly in the evening. Not all evenings are the same. Musicians and DJs see a lot of parties and therefore feel that it is sometimes better to shift something in the set times.

• Make good agreements about who sets up and breaks down and when. Make sure the location is aware of this so that they also know where they stand.

• Stage or not? Some locations do not lend themselves to a podium because the ceiling is too low, for example. If possible, we recommend arranging a stage with a band. As a result, the bank has more eye contact with the audience and there will be more interaction between the band and the audience.

• Discuss in advance with people at the location of the event whether the power supply is sufficient. Of course, you don't want a power failure when the band starts.
• Make sure you draw up a contract with the band and sign it so that there are surprises.
• Check the loading and unloading route in advance. The equipment of DJs and bands is in boxes with wheels underneath. If a piece is unpaved, this can delay the construction. Just think of a beach wedding where there may be a piece of unpaved path.
